After a long hiatus, I have started painting again. I suffered a personal loss in January that took away my creative desires until recently. About a month ago I forced myself to add some finishing touches onto a canvas I began last December. It was the breakthrough I needed, and last weekend I completed six small landscapes on canvas. Today I am heading back into the studio to work again.

The featured work is from my Joshua Tree series. "Joshua Tree #10." Oil on canvas, 22 x 36 inches. A year ago I began a series of works based on my visit to Joshua Tree National Park (California) in 2011. This diptych, created by using two 18x18 canvases, is the second piece from that series. To date I have completed a total of nine canvases in the Joshua Tree series.
This canvas was the first in a series of paintings I created last year based on my visit to Joshua Tree National Park in Fall 2011. The park is located in the southern region of the Mojave Desert, just east of the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs, California. I had never really seen a desert before, and I was totally captivated with its beauty and remoteness.
I’m honored to have one of my canvases, “Fourth and Montgomery,” selected as the cover art for Dr. Timothy Hinton’s new philosophy book “The Original Position,” published this month by Cambridge University Press. I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Hinton for this fabulous opportunity. http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/philosophy/political-philosophy/original-positionKenneth Eugene Petershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06246643178200749967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1596965176589816419.post-53541600562487656792015-12-21T11:03:00.001-05:002015-12-21T11:09:43.453-05:00Christmas at Oak View

This is a painting I completed in October depicting the main farmhouse at Historic Oak View County Park here in Raleigh NC. It seems a most appropriate image to use as my holiday greeting to family, friends and patrons. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2016!
